Finding Health Insurance With Value

When it comes to health insurance, there is no "one size fits all." Ideally, working for an employer who offers non-contributory health insurance is what most of us would aspire to. However, that is not a realistic scenario.

Finding affordable, adequate health insurance coverage is a huge problem in our country right now. If you are in a situation where you require certain medications and have no access to reduced rates on prescriptions you can almost bet the farm that you will be paying top dollar for the medications you need.

When considering a change in employment, scrutinizing the potential employers health insurance plan is a given. Sadly, many people look at everything about a new job except the health insurance plan, just lumping it together with a "benefit package." This could be a huge mistake. Contracting a debilitating illness or becoming an unwilling participant in an accident is not something that anyone can foresee.

This is particularly true with young singles. Life situations change and a health insurance plan that was adequate for a single person may not apply should he/she marry and even have children while employed. If their policy has no provisions for the addition of dependents in the future you can find your health insurance plan woefully inadequate. Take the time to project what your future situation might be and plan accordingly.

One of the most overlooked segments of our society are the self-employed. Depending on age and dependent requirements, the cost for individual coverage can be astronomical. If you are self-employed or a very small business owner, consider joining a local association like a chamber of commerce, better business bureau or some other type of business organization.

Many of these organizations offer access to health insurance that might otherwise be prohibitive on an individual basis. They often charge a membership fee to the organization. Sometimes even when you factor in several hundred dollars a year for membership dues, that small cost far outweighs the potential savings in premiums. Health insurance packages are often one of the most lucrative options these organizations have to assist in recruitment of new members.

If you do not fall into either of the categories above, you might investigate other potential group options. Fraternal organizations, unions and clubs may offer access to group rates. The important thing is to pursue every possible avenue with an eye toward obtaining access to group health insurance.

Unless you are in a category considered as "low income" that would afford you access to social health care you can plan on paying hefty premiums. If you have a pre-existing condition, your chances of obtaining affordable rates are statistically very low. But, there are some things you can do. Some tips to bear in mind are:

.. Shop very carefully. You now understand what some of the options are and how widely diversified policies can be.

.. Make certain you are looking at health insurance that is appropriate and adequate for your needs.

.. Read the fine print so you understand what is included and what is excluded.

.. Never buy a policy that covers a single disease.

.. Are there deductibles and if so, how much?

.. Does the coverage include major medical?

.. What is the maximum out of pocket expense you can expect to incur?

.. When does coverage begin?

.. Does the coverage include prescriptions?

.. Are lab fees and x-rays included?

.. Can you choose your own physician or select from a list of providers?

.. What is most important to you?

.. Does the coverage include dental, vision, maternity, well-baby care, etc.

If you are in that "no mans land" where you do not yet qualify for Medicare, Medicaid or any of the other social programs yet are too old for individual coverage you might take a look at AARP. It can provide a stop gap for that period of time while you are waiting to qualify for assistance.

If you are a young single parent, investigate any subsidized programs that might be available in your state. Many states have programs that will provide care for your children if not for yourself. These social programs are generally based on a sliding scale based on our income level and in many cases visits and prescriptions for your children might be free of charge.

With the skyrocketing costs of health care, no one should ever feel embarrassed or sacrifice the health of themselves or their loved ones by applying for any type of assistance that might be available to meet their needs. Until something happens to curb this upward spiral we must all take special steps to see that the most vulnerable members of our society receive the health care they need. . . namely, our children and our elderly.

For people in California, health insurance is a constant topic of debate. Universal California health insurance programs have been introduced in the state legislature twice in the past three years. Unfortunately for California, health insurance legislation like this has not yet been passed. However, San Francisco has implemented a program for universal health insurance. California has one of the largest economies in the world, but the individual is still mostly responsible for acquiring California health insurance coverage. The Los Angeles Times reports that 7 million people in the state do not have health insurance. Californians are very concerned about California health insurance programs. Luckily, Business Health Insurance has information on the best health insurance California has to offer.

The good news is that there are many options available for health insurance. California boasts the fifth largest economy in the world and the California health insurance industry helped place the state in this position. Many providers first began providing health insurance in California before expanding to other states.

Because of this California health insurance programs are well developed. For example, in California, health insurance programs offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield are divided into two separate companies. Consumers can choose between Blue Cross of California health insurance and Blue Shield of California health insurance. California health insurance plans offered by these two companies differ considerably. Blue Cross of California health insurance is geared more toward customization, while Blue Shield of California health insurance offers a system of set plans with adjustable premiums and deductibles.

Following the latest trend in health insurance, California health insurance providers now offer Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to their customers. The benefit of HSAs is that, unlike their precursors for financing health insurance, California Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), money deposited into an HSA is tax deductible and unused portions roll over to subsequent years.

When searching for health insurance, Californians also have an added benefit. Dental coverage is often covered by basic health insurance. California health insurance plans seem to be more inclusive other states plans. Finding good California health insurance coverage can be labor intensive because of the abundance of plans. Business Health insurance is dedicated to connecting you to the best health insurance in California.

How Much Does a Surety Bond Cost?

We must first understand what a surety bond does as well as the factors that are involved that will determine the rate as well as obtaining a surety bond approval. The surety company will evaluate your credit, experience, and financials. The process is very similar to apply for a business loan. Rates vary on a multitude of conditions such as which state is it for, what type of surety bond is needed, what is the financial outlook for the company or individual, how much experience does the business have and of course, which surety company is writing it.

Most companies are looking for a credit score above a 670 with no public records, collections, or slow pays. They also review your business financials to make sure that your company has a positive net income and worth. The surety company requires that your financial equity be at least five times the bond amount. Therefore, if you are applying for a $50,000 Surety bond the surety is looking for a net worth above $200,000. Keep in mind this is different for each bond type and state because some types of bonds have a higher loss ratio than other types of bonds. Remember that you are indemnifying the surety so the surety wants to make sure you are able to pay a claim if one occurs. If you meet these requirements and the type of surety bond is not considered hazardous such as a financial guarantee than you should be able to qualify for a preferred rate of 1% to 3% of the surety bond amount. Keep in mind that each surety has a minimum premium for a bond, which is usually $150.00 to $250.00, but you only run into these scenarios if your bond amount is under $25,000. So using a $25,000 surety bond as an example and the rate was at a 3% the cost would be $750.00.

Unfortunately, not every person or company can meet the surety requirements for preferred rates or even qualify for bonding, especially with the surety bond market tightening due to an influx of claims. Many Surety Companies will require collateral or simply decline your submission if you cannot qualify. Fortunately, there are still programs that will not decline your bond due to credit or other conditions they will just charge a higher rate.

Here is how is how it works if your business does not qualify for normal bonding the rate can be anywhere between 4% to 25% rate this is only for License and permit bonds. So if you where applying for a $100,000 Surety bond and your credit, financials or experience do not meet the surety companies requirements instead of declining you the rate will be higher for an example if you where approved at a 5% rate the cost would be $5,000.00 with no collateral. You may say to yourself well I would rather post the money with the state instead of paying a little more for my surety bond, you can of course do that but keep this in mind the state will not release your collateral until the statue of limitations is up. Therefore, after your bond is no longer needed or you are no longer in business the state will not release the collateral for several years.

For travellers who want to enjoy more of Europe - particularly of the countries within the Schengen area -, and less of the crossing points, getting the visa(s) and paperwork right is a must.

If you are traveling from Asia, Africa, South America, or Oceania to any of the Schengen territories for 1 to 90 days, you'll probably need a Schengen visa. This visa will allow you to enter the country you are traveling to and for little to no difficulty when crossing over into other countries within the Schengen area.

The first thing to do when traveling to one or several of the Schengen territories, is to go to the embassy or consulate of the country in which you will be entering the Schengen area to check if you actually need a visa. If so, you'll need to apply for a Schengen visa. For this, you'll have to fill out some paperwork and notify them of your main destination and trip plans. It is the embassy or consulate from the country where you will be first entering the Schengen area that will be responsible for granting your visa, and for allowing you to pass through the different territories.

Have in mind that getting a Schengen visa can take up to several months. So, plan your trip and apply for your visa ahead of time to avoid any bad surprises.

Most of the Schengen visa requirements not only call for the permission from the country(ies) you are visiting, but also specify that responsibilities for you traveling in their territory(ies) are taken care of. The later is mainly linked to the need of having a Schengen visa insurance that will provide you with travel and health coverage in the event that something unfortunate takes place during your trip.

The Schengen insurance should cover both travel and health expenses while you are moving through Europe. This requirement is mandatory to apply for a Schengen visa and can also be checked at the main Schengen border points.

The Schengen visa requires a minimum health coverage of 30,000 Euros (around $45,000 USD) in the case of an injury, accident or illness. If needed, when traveling through the Schengen territories, this amount should allow you to get proper medical assistance.

Regarding travel coverage, it is requested that the insurance covers any unlucky situation that may arise like the need of medical repatriation, rescue expenses, or bodily and/or material damage caused to others by yourself (civil liability).

It's important to note that the Schengen insurance can not expire while you are traveling through any of the Schengen territories.

Finally, another factor to look into is that the insurance company you buy the Schengen visa insurance from is represented by an office within the European Union. This will make a lot easier to get proper service in case of an emergency.

Have a nice and safe trip!

Homeowners need to protect their assets. A house or condo may or may not be the place where you live but nonetheless, it is far too valuable to leave it unprotected. Homeowner insurance can provide the necessary coverage to avoid risks like fire, robbery, and other hazards. There are different types of policies and depending on your needs a particular insurance may be suitable for you or not. Here are some tips to know which policy is the proper one for you.

There are basically two kinds of coverage on homeowner insurance. On one hand, you have the coverage that protects the property, the building and on the other hand, you have a coverage that protects the contents, the rest of the assets that are within the property like house appliances, furniture, etc. Both can be included in the same policy and the convenience of including the contents or not depends on your needs.

Property Coverage

The property coverage of your homeowner insurance policy protects the building including any other immovable part of your property (covered parking space, nursery, etc). The coverage may include fire and other disasters. Natural disasters may or not may be included depending on where you live. Places where such risks are common (earthquake areas, flooding areas, etc.) include such natural disasters as part of the average policy while insurance companies on other states tend to exclude such risks.

Content Coverage

A homeowner insurance policy may or may not include content coverage. Content coverage will protect you from the costs associated with the destruction or damage of those house appliances or personal belongings that are kept within the boundaries of the property. As regards to the furniture, all of it is included as long as it is not classified as part of the property in which case it remains covered by the insurance but by the property coverage instead of the content coverage.

The Liability Issue

Damage to the property is not the only thing that you need to be protected of. An accident that occurs in your property and affects other people can imply costs to you. Liability coverage is thus, very important too. Liability coverage will pay for third party damages and any costs you incur in if a legal process is initiated by the third party.

Additional Coverage

If for any reason you cannot inhabit the property you will of course need some place to stay till it is habitable again and this implies high costs in terms of rent or hotel bills, supplies, food, etc. If such event happens you will probably want homeowner insurance to cover the costs. Therefore it is a good idea to make sure that the policy includes this kind of expenses and keep in mind the process needed to get reimbursed for them in a speedy manner.

As you can see, there are many risks covered by homeowner insurance and you should contact your insurance broker or agency in order to get familiar with the policies offered. We know it can be extremely boring to go through all the paperwork implied in these contracts but it is well worth it.
